Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has responded to John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), after Mahama urged voters to choose him to “reset” Ghana.
Mahama made this call during the NDC’s manifesto launch, where he argued that the country is “bleeding” and in desperate need of change.
In a media engagement on Sunday, August 25, Dr. Bawumia countered Mahama’s appeal, arguing that what Ghana truly needs is an upgrade, not a reset. He presented himself as the candidate for the future, outlining 14 key commitments he plans to fulfill if elected in the 2024 elections.
“I represent the future; Ghana needs an upgrade, not a reset,” Dr. Bawumia stated. He detailed his plans to sustain and expand Ghana’s recovering economy, create new jobs, implement comprehensive tax reforms, and develop Ghana into a world-class digital economy.
Dr. Bawumia’s commitments also include reducing the cost of living, expanding public infrastructure, enhancing healthcare for all, implementing Affirmative Action for women and girls, ensuring good governance, caring for the elderly, expanding educational opportunities for everyone, and strengthening border security to maintain neighborhood safety.
His remarks emphasize a vision for a modernized and digitally advanced Ghana, addressing the nation’s current challenges while laying the groundwork for future progress.
