The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has declared his intention to contest in the upcoming NPP National Chairmanship race.
The announcement was made on April 14, 2024, by the party’s Ashanti Regional Organizer, Francis Adomako, in Kumasi during a donation event organized by the party’s parliamentary caucus for victims of the Adum Railways Market fire.
While introducing Chairman Wontumi at the event, Adomako stated, “Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, the incoming National Chairman, is also here.” The crowd welcomed the announcement with loud applause.
A close source at Chairman Wontumi’s office revealed www.kumasimail.com that he has secured the blessings of former President Nana Akufo-Addo and several other regional chairmen in support of his bid, once nominations are officially opened.
However, the source declined to provide further details on Wontumi’s vision for the party.
“At the moment, we are in the process of forming the campaign team. After that, we will tour all constituencies across the country to listen to the people and offer solutions to their concerns. When they elect Chairman Wontumi as the National Chairman, they will see real transformation.
His chairmanship bid is not just a campaign—it’s a movement, one that will be stronger than South Africa’s apartheid resistance,” she said.
