Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has confirmed that it has received an appeal from the Senegalese Football Federation challenging a decision related to the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 final.
In a media release dated March 25, 2026, CAS said the appeal is against a ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation which declared that Senegal had forfeited the final match of the tournament. The decision also recorded Morocco as winners of the match by a 3-0 scoreline.
According to the statement, the appeal seeks to overturn the CAF decision and have the Senegalese Football Federation declared winners of the final. The federation has also requested an immediate suspension of the deadline for filing its appeal brief until the full grounds of the CAF decision are made available.
CAS said an arbitral panel will now be appointed to consider the case, after which a procedural timetable will be established. Under CAS rules, the appellant has 20 days to file its appeal brief, while the respondents are given a further 20 days to submit their response.
Director-General of CAS, Matthieu Reeb, said the body is equipped to handle the dispute with the support of independent arbitrators and will ensure that the proceedings are conducted as quickly as possible while respecting the rights of all parties.
CAS added that further updates, including details of any hearing, will be communicated to the media when available, noting that the arbitration process remains confidential while proceedings are ongoing.
