A senior lecturer with the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Kumasi in the Ashanti region, Dr. Samuel Afrieyie has accused the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Ghana for turning the church into political platform.
Dr. Afrieyie a member of the church believe Rev. Dr. Stephen Yenusom Wengam recent partisan activities and posture in the church in support of former President John Dramani Mahama who is active member of the church is creating division in the church among members.
Speaking on Kumasi based Otec FM in Kumasi, during breakfast political talk show, he appeal to stakeholders of the church to check the development by calling the respect leaders of the church to order.
“While I acknowledge the good works of Dr. Wengam, he has to stop politicizing the church, so I am urging our leaders to help stop this,” he told the programme’s host Captain Koda.
Dr Afriyie highlighted the delicate balance between religion and politics, emphasizing the need for religious leaders to maintain neutrality and avoid exploiting their influence for political gain.
