Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education, had the honor of accompanying President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the 2024 United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Wednesday, 25th September 2024.
The event provided a platform for the President to address pressing global issues, with a particular focus on climate change, inequality, and the need for reforms within international institutions such as the United Nations Security Council.
In his address to the General Assembly, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the disproportionate effects of climate change on Africa, making a compelling case for global climate justice rather than charity.
He stressed the importance of international cooperation to address these global challenges, advocating for equitable treatment for African nations in the formulation of climate policies.
In addition to attending the Assembly, Dr. Adutwum engaged with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) USA team, expressing admiration for their ongoing support of Ghana’s development agenda.
The NPP USA, which consists of 27 active branches across the United States, has played a critical role in advancing the party’s vision for Ghana’s socio-economic transformation.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the executives of NPP USA for their bold vision and leadership,” Dr. Adutwum stated. “Their contributions over the years have significantly supported the transformational agenda for Ghana’s development.”
Dr. Adutwum also acknowledged the vital role played by NPP USA and other external branches in supporting Ghana’s progress in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He praised their efforts to strengthen the foundational pillars of the nation’s growth, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare, and technology.
“The continued support of NPP USA and all external branches remains crucial in accelerating Ghana’s progress in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Your dedication to fortifying the core structures of our nation is commendable,” Dr. Adutwum added.
As Ghana continues to position itself as a leading force in Africa’s development, the Minister highlighted the importance of collective efforts to empower future generations and ensure a brighter, more prosperous future for the country.
“I look forward to the continued success of our collective efforts in empowering future generations. Thank you, and may we continue this shared journey toward a brighter and more prosperous Ghana,” Dr. Adutwum concluded.
The Minister’s participation in the UNGA and his interactions with NPP USA underscore the crucial role of international partnerships and the Ghanaian diaspora in advancing the country’s development goals.
