Nineteen newly appointed government Assembly Members of the Ejura Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly were officially sworn into office on Monday, February 17, 2025.
The ceremony, presided over by His Lordship Sydney Braimah, a Magistrate Court Judge in Ejura, and inaugurated by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Luisa Benon (Mrs).
The swearing-in was in line with Section 3 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), which mandates the formal induction of appointed Assembly Members into office.

Speaking on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive and His Excellency President John Mahama, Madam Luisa Benon urged the newly inaugurated Assembly Members to uphold the provisions of Section 16(1) of the Local Governance Act.

She emphasized their responsibility to maintain close engagement with their electoral areas, consult constituents on key issues, gather public opinions, and actively participate in communal and development activities.
The Member of Parliament for Ejura Sekyedumase, Hon. Dr. Bawa Braimah Mohammed, also welcomed the newly sworn-in members and reminded them of their duty to contribute meaningfully to the development of the municipality.

Citing Sections 12(1) and 13 of Act 936, he stressed the need for Assembly Members to formulate and implement strategies that effectively mobilize resources for the progress of the Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality.
Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed Assembly Members, Nana Kontor, the ‘Aboafohene’ of the Ejura Traditional Council, expressed deep appreciation to President John Mahama for their appointments. He pledged their collective commitment to serving the municipality diligently.
The ceremony was graced by various distinguished guests, including Heads of Departments, representatives from security agencies, traditional authorities, and executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by the party’s municipal chairman.
The swearing-in marks the beginning of the Assembly Members’ tenure as they take on their mandate to support local governance and drive development within the Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality.
