The Electoral Commission (EC) marked a significant step in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections by finally officially delivering the certified voters register to representatives of political parties without voter statistics.
The handing over of the register at the EC’s headquarters, underscores the commission’s commitment to transparency and a fair electoral process.
In her address, the EC Chairperson Jean Adukwei Mensa emphasized the commission’s dedication to fulfilling its promises to both the public and political entities.
She reminded those gathered of the commission’s prior commitment to provide political parties with the final, certified register well in advance of the election.
“As part of our dedication to transparency and accountability, we pledged to provide soft copies of the certified voters register to all political parties prior to the 2024 elections. Today, we fulfill that promise,” he stated.
The EC Chair also acknowledged the importance of collaboration, noting that a clear and accessible voters register enables political parties and candidates to effectively prepare and engage with voters, promoting a fair and democratic process.
The commission presented seventy-five copies of the 2024 certified voters register, each provided in both digital and print format.
The register includes all verified voters eligible to participate in the upcoming election, ensuring that political stakeholders have ample time to review and incorporate this data into their respective campaigns.
With this delivery, the EC reaffirms its role in supporting a transparent and orderly electoral process, reinforcing the foundation for a credible election in 2024.
