The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has called for sustainable industrial practices to protect the environment while ensuring economic growth.
Speaking at a stakeholder workshop in Kumasi, Dr. Jackson Adiyiah Nyantakyi, regional director EPA, emphasized the need for industries to adopt best available technologies to minimize pollution and waste emissions.

Dr. Nyantakyi highlighted the growing concerns over environmental degradation caused by industrial activities, stressing that companies must balance profitability with environmental responsibility.
According to him, several industries continue to violate environmental regulations despite being provided with guidelines for sustainable operations.
“We are working to ensure that industries comply with environmental standards without compromising the well-being of future generations,” Dr. Nyantakyi stated.

He added that the EPA is actively training industry players on compliance with environmental laws, impact assessments, and waste management strategies.

As part of its efforts, the EPA is also introducing economic instruments and policy mechanisms to enforce compliance.
“Industries must internalize the cost of pollution and take responsibility for the environmental impact of their operations,” he stated.

He reaffirmed the EPA’s commitment to protecting the environment and urged industries to collaborate with the authority in implementing best practices.
He assured stakeholders that strict monitoring and enforcement measures would be put in place to ensure compliance.
