The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has rescued seven Nigerian nationals and arrested ten individuals during an operation targeting a suspected cyber fraud ring at Mataheko–Afienya in the Greater Accra Region.
EOCO, in a news release dated November 17, 2025, said the raid—conducted on Friday, November 14 under Operation LIFELINE—uncovered a trafficking scheme in which the victims were brought into Ghana and forced to engage in prohibited cyber activities.
According to the statement, the rescued victims, all Nigerians aged between 17 and 30, had been lured into the country with promises of employment but were subsequently subjected to harsh and exploitative conditions.
EOCO added that the suspects compelled the victims to participate in online fraud schemes and other illegal cyber operations.
The operation led to the arrest of ten individuals, including three key suspects believed to be behind the trafficking and cybercrime activities.
EOCO said the arrests form part of its ongoing efforts to dismantle cyber fraud networks operating within the country.
EOCO encouraged the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activities through its hotlines or to other law enforcement agencies.
The Office also advised landlords to exercise due diligence when renting properties, particularly to foreign nationals, to help curb the use of such locations for illegal activities.
The statement warned individuals involved in human trafficking and cybercrime to desist, stressing that EOCO remains fully committed to pursuing and prosecuting offenders.
