Don’t put words in John Mahama’s mouth- PV Jantuah slams Akufo-Addo over his claims that Mahama will cancel YEA

Former Presidential Staffer PV Jantuah has launched a withering attack on Attorney General Godfred Dame, following the Appeals Court’s acquittal and discharge of Ato Forson and Jakpa in the high-profile Ambulance Trial.

Jantuah questioned Dame’s decision to convene a meeting with Yonny Kulendi, allowing him to speak with Jakpa, the third accused, and record their conversation.

“Why did Dame convene a meeting with Kulendi so he could have the chance to chat with Jakpa to record the conversation? A whole Attorney General—how can he speak with an accused person about the case involving him?”, he questioned.

Jantuah described the move as “unprofessional” and “unprecedented”.

Speaking in an interview with Kojo Marfo on AbusuaNkommo at Abusuafm, Jantuah expressed concern about Dame’s appointment, suggesting that it was influenced by his willingness to prosecute cases, which to them the former Attorney General, Gloria Akufo-Addo, couldn’t do.

He said “The gossiping Godfred Dame made against Gloria Akuffo that he can prosecute landed him the Attorney General job. Today, he is disgracing himself.”

The former staffer lambasted Dame, questioning whether his appointment as Attorney General was due to his sartorial choices.

He emphasized “As for Godfred Dame, I don’t know whether the suits he wears made him the Attorney General”.

Jantuah described Dame’s actions as a “disgrace” to himself and the Office of the Attorney General.

Jantuah also criticized Dame’s leadership of the Ghana Bar Association, accusing him of making wild pronouncements on the judgment that were unbecoming of his position.

He argued “As the leader of the BAR, you still have the audacity to make these pronouncements about the judgment from the Appeals Court.

He added “If it were not for Akufo-Addo appointing him as Attorney General, who else would have done so?”

In a shocking revelation, Jantuah referenced a 2005 Graphic newspaper article, where the former Attorney General and the then nominee for Foreign Affairs Akufo-Addo described the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice as ‘superfluous’.

Jantuah argued that, as President, Akufo-Addo failed to reform the office, instead creating the Office of the Special Prosecutor, which has yielded little results.

“Akufo-Addo on a frontpage of January 22, 2005 in a Graphic newspaper stated that the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice is superfluous.

“After becoming President for 8 years, what he could have done is create the Office of the Special Prosecutor, knowing it would not yield any results. What he was preaching and what he has done about it now that he is President are two different things, Mr. Jantuah explained.

Jantuah suggested that Dame’s appointment was solely due to President Akufo-Addo’s influence, implying that he lacked the qualifications and credibility for the role.

He compared Dame unfavorably to previous Attorneys General, from Kwame Nkrumah’s era to the present, implying that Dame’s appointment was unwise.
