Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has assured affected traders of government support following a devastating fire incident at the Adum Blue Light area along Adum railways area.
The minister, accompanied by Mrs. Marieta Brew, visited the site on Sunday, March 23, 2025, to assess the extent of the damage and engage with the leadership of the affected traders.
During his visit, Dr. Amoakohene expressed sympathy for the victims and pledged that the government would take necessary steps to assist them in recovering their losses.
He directed the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to begin registering all affected traders to facilitate support efforts.
“We understand the difficulties this fire has caused, and the government is committed to ensuring that those affected receive the necessary assistance. I urge all traders to cooperate with NADMO and KMA officials to ensure a smooth registration process,” Dr. Amoakohene stated.
The fire, which broke out at Adum Blue Light, a major trading hub in Kumasi, has left many traders counting their losses, with several shops and stalls reduced to ashes. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading to the incident.
Authorities are urging all affected traders to register with NADMO and KMA to enable them to receive support and assistance in rebuilding their businesses.
