Kwaku Kyeremateng Nkansah, host of Wontumi TV’s Talk Ghana, has levelled a series of allegations against the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, accusing him of involvement in illegal mining and electricity theft.
Speaking on his programme, Nkansah claimed that the minister was engaged in unauthorized electricity connections with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and was using the power to run a private media operation.
“Dr. Frank Amoakohene is a galamseyer and also engaged in ECG illegal connection,” Nkansah alleged during the broadcast.
He further asserted that attempts had been made to conceal evidence of the alleged activities, stating that video recordings linked to the matter had been deleted but later recovered.
“Someone should tell Dr. Amoakohene that the videos that were deleted have reached headquarters. When ECG staff were beaten to delete the videos, the footage found its way to Wontumi TV,” he said.
Nkansah also alleged that the minister was operating a media station from his private residence using illegally connected electricity. He referenced a location believed to have been used during the 2024 elections.
“The media station he’s operating in his house where the NDC did the collation in 2024 is powered with illegally connected ECG light. That is Ghana’s electricity he is using to run his station,” he claimed.
In addition, Nkansah questioned a reported payment made by the minister to the ECG, suggesting it could be linked to the alleged infractions.
“Last Thursday, ECG didn’t take him to court, but he went there to pay GH¢43,000. If you haven’t stolen power, why would you pay such an amount?” he asked.
The broadcaster further alleged that an ECG staff member who attempted to address the issue was assaulted and detained.
“The ECG staff they beat him, handcuffed him, and sent him to a room at the Regional Coordinating Council. I have personally spoken to the ECG officer,” Nkansah claimed.

My attention has been drawn to a video circulating on social media in which a presenter on Wontumi TV, alleges that Dr. Frank Amoakohene has engaged in an illegal electricity connection at a house located at Ahinsan Estate.
We wish to place on record that Dr. Frank Amoakohene does not own any house matching the description provided by the accuser. The allegation is therefore false, untrue, and without basis.
We challenge the accuser to substantiate his claims with credible evidence, including proof of ownership of the said property by Dr. Frank Amoakohene and any payment receipts or documents upon which the allegation is founded.
Public discourse must be guided by facts, truth, and responsibility. We urge all persons to refrain from making unfounded accusations that have the potential to damage reputations and mislead the public.
