Former military man and National Democratic Congress (NDC) stalwart, Richard Jakpa, has expressed concerns about the safety of the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama (JDM), ahead of the 2024 elections
In a recent engagement with the media in the Upper East with the flagbearer, the ex-serviceman indicated his readiness to protect the flagbearer and Ghanains who are already to vote for NDC in the December 7 polls.
“My legal matter has been resolved. I’m fulfilling my obligations. As the NDC and John Dramani Mahama (JDM) are on track to win the election, we’re enhancing security measures. We’re taking necessary steps to safeguard the electoral process and protect the votes of Ghanaians.
“We’re leaving no stone unturned and we’re winning this elections. Anything it needs, I’ll sacrifice it”, Jakpa stated when he was pushed to explain role the flagbearer has assigned him to to do.
With the election season heating up, Jakpa’s call for enhanced security highlights the tense political climate in Ghana.
The NDC has been vocal about its concerns regarding electoral security, and Jakpa’s statement underscores the party’s commitment to protecting its leader and the democratic process.
