The Minister for Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, has called for patience and cooperation from residents of the North East Region.
He emphasized particularly the Walewale enclave, as the government enforces a curfew amid security concerns.
Speaking at the Ahlussuna Wal Jama’a (ASWAJ) National Youth Convention at the Kawukudi Astroturf Park, near the National Mosque in Accra, the minister acknowledged the difficulties faced by residents due to the curfew but emphasized that the measure was necessary to ensure public safety.
“I want to take this opportunity to plead with our brothers from the North East Region, especially the Walewale enclave, to bear with us. We know how painful it is to be under curfew at this time, especially with CMS infections on the rise, but we are making a difficult decision between safety and health,” Minister Muntaka stated.

He reassured the affected communities that the government was actively monitoring the situation and would review the restrictions as soon as it was safe to do so.
The minister urged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies to restore stability in the region.

The Asawase MP explain that ” currently 11 curfew has been impose on communities with national security concerns. Yesterday 2 were lifted they include Chereponi and Kumbugu all in the Northern regions” he added.
He disclosed “Bimbila and Sabuba curfew are most likely to be lifted by the end of next week base on positive response he received from security management of the area” he assured.
The ASWAJ National Youth Convention, which has drawn a large audience from the Muslim community, focuses on youth development, religious values, and national security.
The event features discussions led by Islamic scholars and community leaders on issues including leadership, faith, and social responsibility.
The Interior Minister also used the platform to highlight the importance of distinguishing between right and wrong, urging young people to uphold integrity and discipline in their daily lives.
The government remains committed to ensuring peace and security across the country, Muntaka reiterated, adding that continuous engagement with community leaders and stakeholders would help address emerging security challenges effectively.
