The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to support the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
This is expected enhance its capacity in fire safety and emergency response.

During a working visit to the GNFS Headquarters in Accra, the Minister engaged directly with management and personnel to better understand the challenges facing the Service. His interaction provided insights into the operational difficulties that hinder their effectiveness in executing their critical mandate.
“I had the opportunity to engage directly with both management and staff of the Service. Listening to their concerns provided valuable insights into the operational difficulties that hinder their effectiveness,” he stated.

The minister commended the personnel for their bravery, selflessness, and dedication to duty, acknowledging the physical courage and resilience required in their line of work.

He assured them of the government’s ongoing efforts to provide the necessary resources and support to enable them to perform their duties effectively.

“It is vital that we recognize and address gaps in resources or training that may impede their service delivery,” he emphasized.
The visit forms part of the Minister’s broader agenda to familiarize himself with agencies under the Ministry of the Interior and identify areas where support and collaboration can be strengthened to enhance operational efficiency.

The Asawase MP reiterated that fostering a collaborative environment within the GNFS and other security and emergency service agencies would ensure the continuous protection of lives and property, reinforcing national safety efforts.

The engagement comes amid growing concerns over fire outbreaks across the country, highlighting the need for improved equipment, training, and personnel welfare to boost the GNFS’s efficiency.
