The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has resolved to embark on industrial action if government fails to approve and pay its reviewed 2026 salaries by the end of October.
In its third update on the 2026 salary review to staff, issued on Friday, October 23, 2026, and signed by General Secretary Abdulai Yakubu, the Association said it has received no concrete information from government or the Management of the Judicial Service on the approval and timelines for payment of the new salaries and arrears from January to October 2026.
JUSAG said it has endured ten months of assurances without results.
“It’s been ten (10) months of assurances without results, yet an empty stomach knows no assurance. Our patience has been tested to its limit,” the statement said.
NEC emergency meeting
The statement said the National Executive Council (NEC) of JUSAG held an emergency meeting on Friday October 23 and resolved to embark on industrial action.
Per the NEC directive, JUSAG has written a final letter to the Management of the Judicial Service, the Office of the President, the National Labour Commission, and the Ministers for Labour, Finance, and Attorney General and Justice, demanding:
(a) approval of the Judicial Council’s recommendations by the end of October 2026; and (b) payment of the new salaries in November 2026 with arrears from January to October 2026.
Ultimatum
JUSAG warned that if government fails to heed its demands, it will advise itself by October 30, 2026.
“All tools of industrial action are available to us,” the statement said.
The Association will hold stakeholders’ meetings on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, to finalise the process, and will announce the form and shape of its next move to members by November 1, 2026.
It urged members not to be intimidated, saying collective success depends on their united resolve.
“Be assured that there is no turning back unless and until the Government meets our demands,” the General Secretary stated.
