A brewing storm is unfolding in the Board Room of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) as the Board Chairman is suspected of scheming to oust the facility’s lawyer, Nana Freduah Agyeman.
According to sources, the Chairman is upset that the lawyer did not oppose an injunction application filed against KATH by the Director of Finance, Elvis Kusi, who is challenging the hospital’s decision to cap his years of service.
The Chairman has called an emergency meeting for Wednesday, allegedly to whip other members into line and dispense with the services of the lawyer.
However, sources hint that the Chairman’s real intention is to settle a personal score with the lawyer, whom he has been at odds with since taking over.
The controversy surrounds a court case in which the Director of Finance sued KATH for breach of agreement, and the court granted an injunction in his favor.
The Chairman is accused of trying to undermine the lawyer and the court’s decision.
The situation has raised concerns about the Chairman’s conduct and his alleged dealings with a former KATH employee, Kwame Adofo, who has been barred by the High Court from interfering in hospital matters.
The plot thickens as the hospital community awaits the outcome of the emergency meeting and the fate of the facility’s lawyer.
