The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) is joining the global community in observing “World Tuberculosis Day 2025” with a free Tuberculosis and HIV screening for members of the public on Monday March 24, 2025.
The free screening services would be spearheaded by the Respiratory Medicine Unit of the Internal Medicine Directorate of the hospital at the Poly Car Park of the hospital from morning to mid-day.
Speaking in an interview in Kumasi today, Dr. Divine Amenuke, head of the unit and the Lead Clinician of the directorate, stated that tuberculosis still constitute a major health menace in the country partly as a result of its late presentation by patients.
He said T.B. as well as HIV were highly treatable conditions when diagnosed early and the free screening was meant to help members of the public know their status in respect of the two diseases so that the necessary medical interventions could be initiated in time if necessary.
Dr. Amenuke pointed out that this year’s celebration of the World Tuberculosis Day is being held the world over under the theme “yes! we can end TB: commit, invest, and deliver” and hoped that members of the public would take advantage of the screening as part of the national and global drive to end the scourge of the T.B. menace.
