Former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Ken Ohene Agyapong, will on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, officially file his nomination to contest in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) upcoming 2026 presidential primaries.
The announcement was made in a statement by NPP Communications Director, Kwasi Kwarteng, who said the filing will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the NPP National Party Headquarters in Accra.
According to the Facebook statement, Mr. Agyapong’s decision to contest the party’s flagbearership represents more than just a political step but also a bold declaration of his determination to lead the NPP to victory in the 2028 general elections.
The statement described his candidature as a call to Ghanaians who believe in leadership anchored on patriotism, honesty, and discipline. It further assured that his leadership would focus on honoring promises, turning ideas into results, and delivering lasting prosperity for citizens.
“This nomination marks more than just a political step; it is a bold declaration of Hon. Ken’s determination to secure victory for the NPP in 2028,” the statement read.
The NPP is expected to hold its presidential primaries in 2026 to elect a flagbearer to succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, whose tenure ends in January 2029.
