Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has dismissed claims that the party is engaging in selective justice and political witch-hunting.
Speaking in an interview on GHOne TV with Natalie Fort, monitored by Kumasi Mail, Gbande insisted that the NDC remains committed to justice and accountability, rather than politically motivated prosecutions.
His statement come amid allegations that the party is unfairly targeting individuals associated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for corruption-related offenses.
Gbande, however, argued that anyone found guilty of wrongdoing under the law must be prosecuted, regardless of their political affiliation.
“People who have stolen from the state must be prosecuted, not for political expediency, but for the justice of Ghanaians,” he stated.
He further challenged the Minority in Parliament, urging them to focus on their constitutional mandate rather than pushing personal agendas.
According to him, internal party disagreements should not interfere with the larger goal of ensuring good governance and accountability.
Gbande also took a swipe at politicians who, he claimed, lacked the courage to stand for justice when necessary.
He emphasized that true leadership requires making tough decisions, even when unpopular.
Regarding allegations linking him personally to threatening the minority leader Afenyo-Markin some in a recent interview with the media over alleged corruption involving him, Gbande dismissed them outright, asserting that if anyone had credible evidence against him, they should present it.
” I have nothing threaten Afenyo-Markin i only talk about corruption deals that he is involve at the Cocoabod and one other institution that one when we get to the bridge we shall cross” disclosed.
“If there is any evidence against me, let them bring it forward. I am ready to face it. Justice must prevail,” he declared.
He added” the NDC government is not witch-hunting former member of Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia NPP government members. Their own people are rather hunting them let me set the rocords straight. All the evidence of corruption against the state by the previous administration were brought to us by dissapointed NPP members who are against corruption for the government to use against them” he alleged.
His comments add to the ongoing political discourse in Ghana, where both the NDC and NPP continue to trade accusations over corruption, governance, and accountability.
