The Board of Directors of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has officially announced the end of Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah’s tenure as Chief Executive Officer, effective October 5, 2024.
In a formal notice dated October 3, the Board expressed gratitude for his contributions to the hospital’s growth during his four-year term.
The Board noted that they await communication from the appointing authorities regarding the next steps.
However, as the transition approaches, Dr. Frank Owusu-Sekyere, currently the Director of Medical Affairs, has been appointed as Interim Chief Executive Officer starting October 6.
The Board emphasized its commitment to ensuring a smooth operational continuity and urged all stakeholders to support this transition period.
This announcement follows recent petitions from health unions advocating against extending Dr. Ampomah’s tenure due to concerns over operational inefficiencies and potential conflicts of interest.
