President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Kwame Zu, former Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the Deputy Director General of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET).
His appointment is expected to enhance the commission’s efforts in expanding technical and vocational education in Ghana.
Kwame Zu is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Agropreneurship at Kumasi Technical University.
He previously served as the Head of the Department of Agropreneurship under the Faculty of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development from September 2014 to August 2016. Over the years, he has played a key role in shaping technical education, serving on various boards and committees at Kumasi Technical University.
He is also a member of the NDC Education Committee and has approximately 14 years of experience in technical education.
President Mahama has consistently emphasized the importance of technical and vocational education as a pillar for national development.
His vision for CTVET includes expanding access to technical training, modernizing infrastructure, and aligning curricula with industry needs to equip the youth with employable skills.
Under his leadership, the government aims to strengthen technical institutions, improve apprenticeship programs, and promote innovation in vocational education.
With Kwame Zu’s expertise in technical education, his appointment is expected to drive these initiatives, ensuring that CTVET plays a crucial role in Ghana’s industrial and economic transformation.
