Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed confidence in the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) chances of winning the 2024 general elections, citing credible opinion polls as evidence of the party’s impending victory.
Speaking at a community engagement in Nalerigu, Mahama dismissed recent opinion polls released by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the government as fake, accusing them of spreading misleading information to sway public perception.
According to Mahama, several independent and respected organizations have projected a clear victory for the NDC in the upcoming elections. He named reputable institutions such as the Economic Intelligence Unit, Global Info Analytics, and Fixed Solutions, all of which have forecasted an NDC win based on reliable research methods.
“All the credible opinion polls have predicted that the NDC is going to win,” Mahama asserted. “But because of this, the NPP and the government have started publishing fake opinion polls—polls that have no methodology and where you cannot even find the people who conducted the research.”
Mahama urged Ghanaians to disregard these fake polls and focus on the credible sources that indicate the NDC is poised to secure victory. However, he cautioned supporters not to become complacent, emphasizing the need to protect every vote to ensure a fair election outcome.
“While the polls show that we are on track to win, we must not be complacent,” he warned. “In this election, every single one of us must play a role. We are all going to be polling agents, and we must protect every vote.”
Mahama’s comments come as the political atmosphere heats up ahead of the 2024 elections, with both the NPP and NDC ramping up efforts to win the support of voters.
