John Dramani Mahama has extended warm wishes to Muslims in Ghana and around the world as they prepare to begin the holy month of Ramadan.
In a message issued on 19 February 2026, the president, together with his wife Lordina Mahama, conveyed greetings to Muslim families and described Ramadan as “a special time” for reflection, renewal and unity.
“Ramadan is truly a special time; a month of reflection, renewal, and coming together as one community,” he said.
He prayed for good health, peace of mind and abundant mercies for the faithful during the 30-day fast, asking that their prayers be answered and their good deeds accepted.
The president also urged Muslims to embrace the deeper values of the season, stressing that the essence of Ramadan goes beyond abstaining from food and drink.
“The true beauty of Ramadan lies not just in abstaining from food, but in the discipline, compassion, and generosity we show to all, especially to those less fortunate,” he said.
Mr Mahama called on Ghanaians to use the period to strengthen unity, love and peace within their communities and across the country.
He ended his message with the greeting: “Ramadan Mubarak. May Allah accept your worship.”
