The Running Mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 presidential election, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has reiterated his commitment to promoting unity within the party as a top priority.
He also stated that he has no intention of contesting in party’s Presidential primary when nomination is open ahead of 2028 elections.
The declaration comes ahead of a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Accra, where key party decisions are expected to be discussed.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a party engagement, Napo, as he is affectionately called, dismissed speculation that he was positioning himself for a future presidential bid.
“Me personally, I am not running in 2028,” he said.
Matthew Opoku Prempeh stressed the need for internal cohesion to secure victory in the upcoming polls.
“My immediate interest now is to get a united party for a flagbearer to be eventually crowned,” he stated,
According to him, ensuring the unity of the party is paramount adding that he is committed seeing that through.
The NEC meeting is expected to outline key strategies for the post-elections and address concerns about party unity and performance.
