The Minister for the Interior has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equipping the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) and other security agencies to enhance national security and border protection.

During a working visit to the GIS headquarters in Accra, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed engaged with management and staff, emphasizing the importance of their role in safeguarding the country’s borders. The visit was part of his ongoing familiarization tour of agencies under the Interior Ministry.

“I commend the men and women of the Immigration Service for their dedication to ensuring that Ghana remains safe for both citizens and foreigners,” he stated.
The Minister also shared President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for the Immigration Service, assuring officers that the government remains committed to retooling and strengthening the agency. He reiterated the administration’s objective to make Ghana the safest place in West Africa to live and do business.

He further acknowledged the intelligence efforts of GIS personnel, particularly those providing daily security briefings, describing their contributions as crucial to national security.
“The intelligence reports I receive from you are invaluable. They help us maintain a robust security framework, and I commend you for your dedication,” he noted.

The Minister assured GIS officers that the government would continue investing in their capacity-building to ensure they remain well-prepared to tackle security challenges at Ghana’s borders.
