- Member of Parliament for Asawase constituency in the Ashanti regional Kumasi, who doubles as minister of Interior Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has inspected two ongoing AstroTurf projects in his constituency, expressing confidence that the facilities will be completed before the end of the year.
The inspection, conducted on Thursday, covered the Aboabo Middle ‘B’ Park and Highlanders Park at Akurem.
The MP was accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong, Ben Abdallah Alhassan, municipal engineers, and representatives of Excel Fortunes Construction Limited, the company executing the projects.
According to Alhaji Muntaka, the AstroTurf projects are designed to harness and nurture the sporting talents of young people in the constituency while creating new opportunities for youth developmentin sports.
“Work is progressing steadily, and the contractor has assured us that both facilities will be completed on schedule before December,” he stated.
He further called for cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure successful delivery and effective use of the facilities once completed.
The projects form part of wider efforts to expand sports infrastructure in Asawase constituency and promote grassroots participation in football and other recreational activities.
