The National Communications Authority (NCA) has dismissed claims that the recent adjustments to DStv pricing in Ghana were a three-month promotional offer, insisting that the enhanced value packages introduced in October 2025 remain in force.
In a press release issued in Accra on December 31, 2025, the NCA said a stakeholder committee set up under the chairmanship of the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI) had concluded its review of DStv pricing in Ghana and reaffirmed the implementation of the revised packages.
According to the Authority, the committee, which includes representatives from the MoCDTI, the NCA and MultiChoice Ghana, met after the October 1, 2025 rollout of the new pricing structure and confirmed that the enhanced value offerings were fully implemented as announced.
“The Committee noted that the enhanced value packages were duly implemented and remain in force,” the statement said, adding that subscribers had responded positively to the changes, leading to a significant increase in subscriptions.
The NCA further disclosed that the stakeholder committee is collaborating with other state agencies, including the Cyber Security Authority, to address the growing challenge of internet piracy of pay-TV content.
The Authority said piracy has resulted in revenue losses to the state, reduced earnings for the creative industry and heightened consumer exposure to malware and phishing schemes.
The committee’s working group, the statement said, will continue its engagement to ensure that agreed objectives including better value and improved service quality for Ghanaian subscribers are achieved.
The release, issued on behalf of the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations and Chair of the Stakeholder Committee on DStv Pricing, reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting consumer interests while safeguarding the sustainability of the digital broadcasting ecosystem.
The NCA emphasized that its focus remains on securing improved value and quality of service for Ghanaian citizens, in line with its mandate to regulate electronic communications in the country.
