NDC to set up 10,000 youth in business every year – Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama, Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has assured Ghanaian youth interested in establishing their own businesses of an elaborate policy to support their business ideas.

Dubbed, “Adwumawura”, the policy according to the Former President, would provide funding for 10,000 young entrepreneurs to set up businesses as part of a comprehensive approach to solving youth unemployment in the country.

Mr. Mahama who was addressing party supporters at Juaso in the Asante-Akim South Constituency as part of his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region, said the NDC had the best policy in tackling the increasing unemployment among the youth.

“We are going to resource 10,000 youth each year with start-up capital to establish any business of their choice and we will not leave out young people in Asante-Akim South,” he told the huge crowd.

Empowering young people to become entrepreneurs and contribute meaningfully to the economy is a key priority of the NDC, he noted.

He said the current government under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had brought untold hardship on Ghanaians and had no justifiable reason to seek for the mandate of the very people it had impoverished.

The NDC Flagbearer said development was about the welfare of the people and that if a government failed to protect the livelihoods of its citizens after eight years, it had no business staying in office.

He, therefore, appealed to Ghanaians to make the right decision by kicking out the NPP Government to return the country on the path of progress and prosperity.

“They told us they have arrested the Dollar, locked it up and handed the key to the IGP but today you need 17 Ghana Cedis for just one Dollar,” he criticised the ruling government.

He said Ghanaians could not make another mistake of allowing themselves to be hoodwinked by the same people who promised a vibrate economy which has rather taken a nosedive.

He particularly entreated voters in the Ashanti Region to prove to the NPP that they could no longer be taken for granted after years of loyalty with virtually nothing to show for.

The Former President argued that most of the development projects in the Region were undertaken during NDC regimes, justifying why the party must be given another chance to continue what it is known for.

Maame Sarfoah Appiah, the Parliamentary Candidate of NDC, said it was time for Asante-Akim South to show the incumbent MP the exit for doing little to improve their lives for 12 years.

She said the NDC had demonstrated over the years to be a development-oriented and people centered party and urged the electorate to vote massively for the party to reset the country for economic growth.
