The National Identification Authority (NIA) Division of the Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) Ghana has declared an indefinite strike action effective Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
In a statement issued on May 12, 2026, the union directed all members of the NIA Division not to report to work from midnight until further notice.
The statement, signed by Assistant Divisional Secretary Godsway Ayivor and Divisional Chairman Bismark Francis Bangfudem Nyuzaghl, indicated that the strike had been “fully activated” and called for strict compliance among members across the country.
“All members of the NIA Division are hereby directed that, effective 12:00 midnight, the indefinite strike is fully activated,” the statement said.

According to the statement, any challenges arising during the strike period should immediately be reported to the divisional executives for prompt intervention.
The union leadership also reaffirmed its resolve to continue the action until its demands are met, declaring: “In solidarity, we stand. No retreat, no surrender until victory.”
