Kwasi Kwarteng, spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong’s presidential campaign, has called for disciplinary action against Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi) and Kwame Baffoe (Abronye) over alleged anti-party conduct.
The call follows the circulation of two videos on social media in which the Ashanti and Bono Regional Chairmen accused the NPP’s electoral register and process of being manipulated to favor a specific candidate ahead of the January 2026 presidential primaries.

These allegations, according to Kwarteng, violate the NPP Constitution, specifically Article 4(7), which governs party conduct.
He noted “They do not only damage the reputation of the NPP as a democratic institution but also directly threaten the credibility and unity of the upcoming presidential primaries.”
He emphasized that the two men hold influential positions as members of the National Executive Committee and National Council, the party’s highest decision-making bodies, under Article 10(3) and (4) of the party constitution. Their statements, therefore, carry significant weight.
“For this reason, it is wholly inadequate for the party leadership to simply dissociate itself from their reckless utterances. It has to be both condemned and sanctioned,” Kwarteng stressed.
Kwarteng in a statement recommended that the NPP’s National Executive Committee and National Council immediately summon Bernard Antwi Boasiako and Kwame Baffoe to answer before the appropriate disciplinary bodies.
He stated, “We therefore recommend that the NEC and the National Council of the NPP immediately summon the two Regional Chairman before the appropriate disciplinary bodies and processes. Such decisive action is necessary to send a clear signal that no individual, regardless of rank or status is above the rules of our Party.”
He warned that failure to act would undermine the integrity of the process and the unity of the party.
Kwarteng assured party members that Team Ken remains committed to ensuring a transparent, free, and fair electoral process.
“We assure the rank and file of the NPP that Team Ken remains resolute in its commitment to a transparent, free, and fair electoral process.
“We have put in place a robust anti-rigging architecture to safeguard the sanctity and integrity of the upcoming primaries, and we call on all party faithful to remain vigilant,” he added.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Leadership has urged the public and party stakeholders to disregard recent statements made by the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, and Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, saying their remarks do not reflect the party’s values or practices.
In a statement, the party emphasized that no individual, regardless of their position, has exclusive control over the compilation of polling station albums. The NPP reiterated that the process strictly follows established compliance procedures to ensure fairness and transparency.
The party also addressed claims by Mr. Antwi Boasiako suggesting that the decision to hold the presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, was designed to favor a specific aspirant.
The NPP described this claim as unfounded and stressed that the National Council made the decision after thorough deliberation in the party’s supreme strategic interest.
According to the party, the National Council’s composition ensures no individual can manipulate decisions for personal gain.
The early timetable for the congress aims to give the NPP sufficient time to reorganize, reposition, and prepare effectively to regain power in the 2028 general elections.
However, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has responded to the statement by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, clarifying his remarks and denying claims that he opposed the party.
In a detailed response, Antwi-Boasiako emphasized that at no point did he involve the NPP National Council in his public engagements.
He stated that his comments focused on the party’s history and strategy to regain power in the 2028 elections with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the flagbearer.
He criticized Mr. Kodua Frimpong for what he described as a misleading statement that misrepresented his comments.
Antwi-Boasiako called the approach unjust and suggested that better communication between the two could have prevented misunderstandings, especially in an era where misinformation can be easily amplified by digital tools such as artificial intelligence.
