Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for Ketu South in the Volta Region, has criticized the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, describing him as a “disaster” for the party.
Speaking to National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters during the Asawase NDC Health Walk in Kumasi over the weekend, Ablakwa condemned comments allegedly made by Dr. Opoku Prempeh, commonly known as “Napo.” Ablakwa claimed that Napo had accused pastors and imams of promoting LGBTQ+ education in schools as part of an agenda supposedly supported by the NDC during its administration.
Ablakwa argued that these accusations are disrespectful to both the Christian and Islamic communities, whose beliefs, he emphasized, are strongly opposed to LGBTQ+ education. He noted that the religious groups had previously expressed public opposition to the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) curriculum, which some believe includes content that could be seen as promoting LGBTQ+ lifestyles.

“Napo went to a UNESCO conference to boast about the NPP government’s educational reforms,” Ablakwa stated, adding that Napo claimed the NPP administration was working to incorporate LGBTQ+ content into Ghana’s educational system. “Now, he turns around and falsely accuses me of being behind this LGBTQ+ agenda.”
Ablakwa further expressed frustration over what he referred to as “lies” directed at him, former President John Mahama, and former Education Minister Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. He argued that these allegations were politically motivated and baseless, and that targeting religious leaders crossed a line.
“Such claims are groundless and truly make NPP’s Vice Presidential candidate a disaster for the party,” he concluded.
