Residents of Nsoatre, a town in the Bono Region, have performed traditional rituals to invoke the spirits of their ancestors, deities and the water bodies to reveal the identity of the person responsible for the gruesome murder of Francis Yaw Frimpong, affectionately known as Pooley, a Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC fan.
Residents of Nsoatre who gathered to mourn the tragic death of Francis Yaw Frimpong, a dedicated supporter of Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC were deeply saddened about the event, vowed to brought the perpetrators to book.
Pooley was fatally stabbed during a violent altercation at a Ghana Premier League match on February 2, 2025, between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko at Nana Konamansah Park.
In response to this gruesome incident, community members congregated at the River Ntreasuo to perform traditional rituals aimed at uncovering the identity of Pooley’s assailant.
“We are deeply disturbed about the recent events in our town,” said one resident.
They brought offerings of two Schnapps, a crate of eggs, and a white sheep to appease their gods and the spirits of the town.

According to the residents, the rituals are part of their tradition and customs, which are guided by the deity Nsutreboteng.
The community emphasized their commitment to tradition, invoking Nsutreboteng their deity.
“We do not kill sheep arbitrarily. If we discover the identity of Pooley’s killer today or tomorrow, we will present the sheep to them as a symbol of our tradition.”
The residents are hopeful that the rituals will help to uncover the identity of the killer and bring justice to the family of the deceased.
The residents are calling on the government to take action according to the law once the identity of the killer is revealed.
Asante Kotoko SC has expressed its devastation over Pooley’s death, describing it as a “senseless loss of life.” The club’s management condemned the violence that marred the match and has pulled out from any football activities. They have pledged to cooperate fully with ongoing investigations into the incident.
The Ghana Football Association has suspended upcoming league matches while authorities investigate Pooley’s death.
Meanwhile, three individuals have been arrested in connection with the violence that led to his tragic demise.
The murder of Pooley has sent shockwaves through the community, and the residents are determined to get to the bottom of the case. The performance of the rituals is seen as a significant step towards uncovering the truth and bringing closure to the family of the deceased.
