A new poll released by Global Info Analytics has sparked a heated exchange between the campaign team of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the research firm’s Director, Mussah Dankwah.
The poll, published on October 1, 2024, indicated that former President John Dramani Mahama is leading with 51.1% support among committed voters, while Dr. Bawumia trails at 37.3%.
Reacting to the poll results, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications for Bawumia’s campaign, launched a public criticism of Mussah Dankwah, referring to him as a “jealous lotto doctor.” Aboagye questioned the credibility of Global Info Analytics’ polling, implying that Dankwah’s analysis was unreliable.
Musah Dankwah, however, did not hold back in his response. Taking to Facebook, he mocked Aboagye for not directly tagging him in his comments and stood by the accuracy of his organization’s research.
“He does not even have the balls to tag me,” Dankwah wrote, asserting that the data-driven nature of their forecast is what is troubling the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He further suggested that the NPP is anxious about the poll results, which may explain Aboagye’s aggressive reaction. “Data-driven forecast is keeping my compatriot sleepless. Instead of focusing on the data and taking advantage of the free diagnosis, he is there posting useless stuff. Hasn’t he got enough on his plate?” Dankwah quipped in his post.
The exchange highlights growing tension within political circles as the 2024 elections draw closer, with polling data becoming a critical factor in shaping campaign strategies.
While supporters of the NPP have questioned the credibility of the poll, Dankwah remains confident in the reliability of his data, suggesting that it is reflective of the current political landscape.
The ongoing debate underscores the intense competition between the two leading candidates—former President Mahama and Vice President Bawumia—each vying for the highest office in the land. As election day approaches, data and polling will likely continue to play a significant role in shaping public discourse.
