President John Dramani Mahama has charged newly sworn-in Minister for Sports, Kofi Idi Adams, with the urgent task of revitalizing Ghana’s sports sector.
The President believes Ghana sport is on sharp decline , described its current state as “completely unacceptable.”
Speaking during Adams’ swearing-in ceremony, President Mahama emphasized the need for transparency, professionalism, and modernization in the management of sports and recreation.
He expressed concerns over the decline of various sporting disciplines, urging the new minister to focus on comprehensive development rather than prioritizing a select few.
“The shambles that is Ghana sports today is completely unacceptable for a country of our pedigree. I expect that you inject transparency, professionalism, and modernity into the management of the sector,” President Mahama stated.
He specifically pointed to football, noting that the Ghana Football Association should be a key starting point in efforts to rebuild the sector.
He called on Adams to implement reforms that would restore Ghana’s standing in the sport and lead the Black Stars back to their former glory.
President Mahama’s directive signals a renewed government commitment to sports development, with expectations that new sports Minister Kofi Adams will oversee a transformation that benefits all sporting disciplines across the country.
