A group of soldiers from the Ghana Armed Forces, reportedly traveling in a military vehicle with registration number 73 GA 36, have allegedly shot and killed a civilian in Nyinahin on Thursday, April 24, 2025 starrfm.com.gh can confirm.
According to eyewitness accounts, the soldiers, believed to be based in Kumasi, encountered a group of youth who were on their way to bury a deceased friend.
During the encounter, the soldiers reportedly spotted a young man wearing military camouflage attire.
EIB News Ashanti regional correspondent Isaac Justice Bediako report the Soldier allegedly confronted him, forcibly removed the camouflage clothing, and detained him.
The situation escalated when the youth protested the military’s actions.
In response, the soldiers allegedly opened fire on the group, killing one person instantly and critically injuring another.
The injured individual has since been transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, an official complaint has been lodged with the Ghana Police Service and the Ashanti Regional Security Council.
The incident has plunged the Nyinahin farming community into mourning and shock.
