Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the NDC, has declared that an NDC government led by former President John Mahama would be terrifying for corrupt officials within the current NPP administration.
He assured that the NDC would hold accountable those who have committed crimes or misappropriated state funds.
Asiedu Nketia pointed to Mahama’s “Operation Recover All Loots” (ORAL) policy, which he asserted would ensure that no one involved in corruption under the current government escapes justice.
Addressing supporters during a tour in Somanya as part of a five-day campaign in the Eastern Region, Asiedu Nketia responded to the NPP’s characterization of Mahama’s return as ” The Alternative is scary” stating that the NPP is right to be concerned, as the NDC is committed to pursuing accountability.
“They are characterization that the alternative is scary ! The Alternative is scary. The alternative is scary for wrong doers. If you have not committed any crime you free, it is true that the alternative is scary, if you are a thief the alternative must be scary for you. If you are criminal but being protected by this government when NDC comes the alternative is scary for you”.
Meanwhile Speaking at a mini rally in Mamfe-Akuapem and Kwamoso in the Akuapem North Constituency
Mr. Asiedu Nketia explained the promise made by the NDC’s flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama to “Reset the country” is a commitment to revitalize Ghana’s institutions to restore its strength and independence .
According to Asiedu Nketia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has undermined the effective functioning of democracy by running down key institutions.
He stressed that the “resetting” agenda proposed by Mahama would ensure that institutions such as the police, judiciary, and the Electoral Commission operate independently and efficiently.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia mocked the NPP’s implementation of a shift system for Senior High School students under the Free SHS policy, but pretending not to understand the NDC’s proposed 24-hour economy policy, which similarly involves a shift system to create more jobs.
Asiedu Nketia framed the upcoming election as a choice between honest and dishonest leadership, accusing the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, of being a dishonest leader.
He urged supporters of the NDC in Ylilo Krobo to resist from voting skirt and blause in the coming December 7 election.
