The National Peace Council (NPC) has urged Christian leaders to exercise caution in their prophecies and public statements regarding political matters as the 2024 elections approach.
During a dialogue with prophets from the Greater Accra region, the Chairman of the Peace Council, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu Gyamfi, emphasized the importance of conflict sensitivity in ministry.
Rev. Dr. Gyamfi explained, that “What we are sharing with our Prophets is that we know God has given us the gift to do ministry, but we want to ensure that there’s conflict sensitivity in the way we do ministry. So that through our prophecies, we do not create problems, particularly within our own congregations.”
He further noted, “Because once you declare support for one political party, you risk alienating members of your own church. This can lead to internal conflicts within the church and the broader society.”
He revealed that the Peace Council is currently addressing concerns raised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding their decision not to sign the Peace Pact.
