Police in Adukrom-Akuapem, Eastern Region, have arrested three teenagers for allegedly killing a 15-year-old boy, Richard Konnor, over a missing GH₵10.
The incident happened after Richard tried to stop a fight between the suspects and another teenager earlier in the day. Later that night, around 9:30 p.m., Richard stepped out to buy food but was ambushed in a dark corner by the suspects.
Eyewitnesses said one of the attackers hit Richard on the head with a machete. He collapsed and bled heavily.
He was rushed to the Okere District Government Hospital but was sadly pronounced dead on arrival.
The police have since arrested all three suspects.
Richard’s mother, Abiba Adobea, is demanding justice for her son. Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the Adumkore Electoral Area, William Anokye, expressed concern about rising youth violence and drug use. He blamed the trend partly on irresponsible parenting, especially among single parents in the area.
