A private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu, has said that the ongoing dispute over the suspension of the Chief Justice would be better resolved if the Chief Justice chose to resign.
Speaking in an interview with 3FM monitored by Kumasimail, Kpebu explained that the current situation is causing problems for the entire justice system.
He said, “It would have been better if the suspended Chief Justice had resigned. The way we are fighting over this is quite messy. It does not look good.”
Kpebu didn’t just focus on legal rights, he appealed to a sense of responsibility.
“You know, the Bible has a lesson here in the book of Romans. It’s not every right that you have that you must exercise. So, yes, all things may be done, but it’s not everything you do that helps the cause”
He added “So sometimes you look at the generality of the interest, you look at the interest of the society, and then you say, OK, I’ll let go.”
He warned that the ongoing public battle is damaging not just the justice system, but also the reputations of those involved.
“The more we fight, the more it’s going to hurt the whole system. It’s not only the system that will suffer, but more people will throw dirt at her and the rest as well. I’m sure you’ve seen the other things that have been put out there in the media,” he cautioned.
