The Upper East Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, has called for peace and unity in the Bawku Traditional Area, urging feuding factions to embrace dialogue and support mediation efforts led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Representing the Minister at the event on Sunday, John Muniru, an Assistant Director at the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council, delivered his address at the Conference of Leaders and Pastors of the Living Waters Community Chapel International (LWCI) held at Zebilla Senior High School.
Themed “My Year of Increase”, the conference brought together church leaders, pastors and key stakeholders to discuss spiritual growth, wisdom and community development.
Akamugri described the gather as a “divine convocation” meant to empower individuals, renew visions and advance God’s kingdom.
Commending LWCI for its contributions to moral, social and economic transformation, the Minister highlighted the historical role of the church in shaping nations and promoting peace.
He encouraged religious leaders to continue serving as pillars of reconciliation and national cohesion.
Addressing the persistent conflict in the Bawku Traditional Area, Akamugri made a heartfelt appeal for peace, urging all factions to cease hostilities and actively support the mediation process led by the Asantehene.
He called on the church to play a central role in promoting stability and harmony in the region.
“Let us harness the power of collaboration to build strong networks, engage in community development and partner with stakeholders to drive meaningful change”, he added.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to initiatives that align with the development goals of the Upper East Region, the Minister assured support from the Regional Coordinating Council, traditional authorities and the people of the region. he praised LWCI’s efforts in fostering spiritual and socio-economic growth and pledged collaboration to further such impactful programs.
The conference was graced by notable figures includingLWCI’s General Overseer Apostle Paul Thiombiano, and Gest Speaker Pastor Dale McBean from the USA. The event concluded with a collective call to action, encouraging participants to renew their mission of spreading salvation and empowering communities for national development.
Ending on a note of hope and faith, Akamugri Donatus declared 2025 as the “Year of Divine Increase”, urging attendees to remain steadfast in their faith.
“Let us rise in faith, work with diligence and draw strength from the Prince of Peace, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ”, he declared.
