Former Minister for Communications and Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has lashed out at some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for allegedly scapegoating President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the wake of the party’s electoral defeat.
In a statement widely circulated on social media and shared by Radio Tamale, Owusu-Ekuful expressed frustration over what she described as hypocrisy and ingratitude among party members.
“Thank you to all of you NPP members who are busy vilifying Akufo-Addo today and blaming him for our defeat. I am sure you would all have given him the credit if we had won, ungrateful people,” she said.
Her remarks come amid growing internal criticism within the NPP following the party’s loss in the recent elections.
Some factions have openly pointed fingers at President Akufo-Addo’s administration, attributing the defeat to alleged economic mismanagement and governance failures.
Owusu-Ekuful’s comments have sparked mixed reactions, with some defending her stance and others calling for unity and introspection as the party regroups.
The NPP is expected to hold a series of meetings in the coming weeks to assess the party’s performance and chart a path forward.
