Government set to raise cocoa farmgate price by nearly 45%, sources say

The government has announced an increase in the producer price of cocoa, effective for the 2024/2025 season.

According to Bryn Acheampong Minister in charge of Food and Agriculture, the new cocoa price will be 48,000.00 Ghana cedis per tonne, representing a significant rise from the current price of 20,908.00 Ghana cedis per tonne.

Additionally, the price per 64kg bag will increase from 1,308.00 Ghana cedis to 3,000.00 Ghana cedis, providing a welcome boost to cocoa farmers across the country.

Before, the announcement cocoa famer across all cocoa production district in an interview with the medis disclosed any amonut below six thousand (GHC.6000) can’t be accepted as a welcoming news.
