Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has encouraged voters not to reject monetary inducements from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the 2024 general elections approach.
The former President accused the government of amassing significant funds for vote-buying in the upcoming elections.
Speaking at a durbar of Chiefs in Juapong in the North Tongu Constituency as part of his campaign tour of the Volta Region, John Mahama cited the recent Assin North by-election as an example and urged the people to accept any money or gifts offered by the NPP but still vote against them.
Mr. Mahama also described propaganda by his main opponents that the party has failed to deliver developmental projects in the Volta Region despite its overwhelming support for the NDC over the years.
According to the former President, such propaganda narrative by the NPP is a deliberate ploy to cause disaffection towards the the NDC for political expediency.
John Mahama who was addressing a durber of Chiefs and people at Juapong jn the North Tongu Constituency as party of his #Mahama4Change campaign of the Volta Region dispelled the narrative indicating that, the projects started by the NDC government get stalled when the NPP is in power.
