The Member of Parliament for Wenchi Constituency, Alhaji Seidu Haruna, has issued a cheque worth GH¢340,000 to support the fifth batch of 298 tertiary students from the constituency in paying their academic fees.

Since assuming office in 2020, the MP has annually received hundreds of applications from fresh and continuing students across various tertiary institutions seeking financial assistance under his MP Education Support Program.
Presenting the cheques on behalf of the MP, Abdallah Ibrahim, Coordinator of the MP Education Support Program, emphasized the member of parliament’s (MP) dedication to ensuring that students from Wenchi pursue higher education without financial constraints.

“This initiative, now in its fifth year, demonstrates the MP’s unwavering commitment to education and his resolve to eliminate financial barriers for students in the constituency,” he stated.
Among the beneficiaries are students pursuing PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degrees, as well as other specialized programs.

The Wenchi Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mrs. Mary Nyarko Adu-Twum, expressed gratitude to the MP for his continued support toward education in the municipality.
She urged beneficiaries to use the funds for their intended purpose and focus on their academic pursuits.

Additionally, she advised them to avoid distractions, particularly romantic relationships, which she cautioned could negatively impact their studies.
Mrs. Adu-Twum also condemned the rising cases of indiscipline on university campuses, referencing a recent tragic incident involving a final-year student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) who is allegedly murdered by her campus boyfriend.
“There is more time for relationships after school. You can get married after completing your courses,” she advised.
The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to Seidu Haruna for his financial support, acknowledging that his intervention has eased their burden and enabled them to continue their education.
