Former Fomena NPP Chairman Kwasi Nti has taken aim at Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, accusing him of mismanagement and disrespect for party elders.
The fiery remarks came amid reports of National Security operatives storming Wontumi’s residence over alleged illegal mining activities and contract issues with COCOBOD.
Nti seized the moment to deliver a scathing critique of Wontumi’s tenure and character in an interview with Kumasi based Angel 96.1FM morning show monitored by Kumasimail.
He declared “The gentleman, they should take him away.”
“Anyone who follows to defend Wontumi, I know that person too is a criminal. They should allow him to go. I thought he said nobody can touch him,” he stated.
Nti emphasized the importance of respect for elders within the party, stating, “In this world, you must always give respect to the elderly,” he said, suggesting that Wontumi’s conduct has fallen short of this expectation.
Chairman Kwasi Nti accused Wontumi of mismanaging party affairs in the Ashanti Region.
“He did things abysmally in the Ashanti Region. Even the party office, we don’t have one today. If NPP decides to hold a meeting, it has to be in a hotel because we don’t have a party office,” he lamented.
He drew comparisons with other regions, noting, “Go to the Volta Region and see the party office they’ve built there.”
The former chairman also alleged financial impropriety, stating, “After collecting that 50 million cedis or dollars, he (Wontumi) couldn’t even deduct some to put structures for the party. All that Wontumi knows is arrogance.”
Nti’s tirade did not stop at financial matters. He accused Wontumi and his associates of moral decay, stating, “His small boy Andy, today they’ve money, so paying dollars to take people’s wives. Is this a good thing? God even won’t bless you.”
He also criticized the behavior of some young party members, recounting a personal experience.
Kwasi Nti stressed “Young ones who haven’t struggled in life before when they meet you at party office, me for example, a lady told me I am stupid! Can you imagine? I asked her, if she looks at me, do I look like a stupid person?”
Nti contrasted his own humble beginnings with the perceived arrogance of the new generation, offering his definition of a stupid person.
“A stupid person is someone who has been given family money to go to the city to survive but spends it at Kejetia, uselessly wasting the money. Me, I came to the city as a shoeshine person, but I am grateful to God for the impact I have been able to make. But because of politics, the young ones insult; they’ve money so they pay dollars to sleep with people’s wives.”
Nti concluded with a sharp dismissal of Wontumi’s recent calls for party support stating “Today Wontumi is saying party people should come to his aid. He should go with his children and wife, he angrily remarked.
