The Interim Executive of the BlueLight Traders Association has expressed deep appreciation to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Government of Ghana, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and other well-wishers for their generous support following the devastating fire that destroyed the BlueLight trading area on March 21, 2025.
In a statement, the traders’ association commended the Asantehene for swiftly granting them land for the immediate reconstruction of the trading area.
They described His Majesty’s intervention as a sign of his immense empathy and solidarity with businesses and traders in Kumasi.
The association also thanked the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, and the government for their collaborative efforts in facilitating the rebuilding process.
According to them, the support from government authorities has been an encouraging factor in their recovery.
A significant boost to the reconstruction efforts came from former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who donated GH¢200,000 and 1,000 bags of cement to aid the traders.
The association hailed this gesture, emphasizing that it strengthens their resolve to rebuild independently rather than relying entirely on government interventions.
Additionally, the association acknowledged a statement of support from Hon. Ken Agyapong and expressed anticipation of his contribution towards their rebuilding efforts.
The BlueLight Traders Association further reminded the public that it remains actively engaged in coordinating relief efforts.
They urged all prospective donors and well-wishers to work directly with the association’s leadership to ensure transparency, accountability, and the proper use of all donations.
The association concluded by thanking all those who have stood by them during these challenging times, vowing to rebuild, restore, and thrive as a united trading community.
