The General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Dr. David Tenkorang Twum, has firmly rejected claims by the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, that nurses and midwives are directing personal attacks at him amidst the Ridge Hospital nurse assault controversy.
In an interview with JoyFM NewsNight, Dr. Tenkorang emphasized that the association’s criticisms are aimed at speaking truth to power rather than launching any form of personal attack against the Health Minister.
He clarified that their concerns focus on systemic issues affecting nurses and midwives rather than targeting the individual minister.
“I’m not too sure anyone has a problem with the minister personally. We cannot engage in personal attacks against him. However, we will always speak truth to power,” Dr. Tenkorang stated.
He went on to affirm the respect and support the association holds for Minister Akandoh, underlining their shared goal of advancing the interests of healthcare professionals in Ghana.
“We respect him, we love him, and we want to support his success, but certainly not at the detriment of nurses and midwives in Ghana,” he noted.
