Minister of Education, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, has officially filed his nomination to contest as flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the party’s presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page after submitting his forms, Dr. Adutwum said his decision to enter the race was driven by a vision to restore hope, build prosperity, and chart what he described as a “bold new future for Ghana.”
“This campaign is not just about winning an election — it is about restoring hope, building prosperity, and charting a bold new future for Ghana,” he declared.
The Education Minister highlighted his background as an educator, reformer, and servant leader, stressing that investing in people and creating opportunities were key to driving national transformation.
“As I declared, together we shall wage war against poverty and we will win,” he said, adding that he believes Ghana’s best days are yet to come.
Dr. Adutwum also expressed appreciation to NPP delegates, the National Elections Committee, his campaign team, and supporters of his “Hope for All Campaign” who, according to him, turned out in their numbers to support his nomination process.
He urged party members to remain united as the NPP works toward victory in the 2028 general election.
Dr. Adutwum is one of five aspirants, including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and MPs Ken Ohene Agyapong and Bryan Acheampong, who have filed nominations to contest for the NPP’s presidential slot.
