Security agencies in the Ashanti Region have intensified joint operations to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Christmas.
The military, police and other security services, operating under the coordination of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), have deployed personnel across the region to forestall potential security threats during the festive season.
As part of the security measures, a combined force of officers from various agencies staged a show of force through major streets of Kumasi to reassure residents of their readiness and deter criminal activity.

Addressing the parade, the Operations Commander of the military in the Ashanti Region, Colonel Abass Atugu, said the coordinated approach, together with additional security strategies being rolled out, guarantees the safety of residents throughout the Christmas period.

“ this morning we have been able to send a strong signal to the people of the region that the security agencies are ready, Prepared and willing to guarantee incident free, crime free and and a peaceful Christmas. As reiterated by the regional police commander this mornings street walk is to display the unity of effort that we are putting together ensure that this agenda is not compromise and it is for all of us here to support that agenda’’ he told the security forces.

He further said” it must be our priority to work together in this region to ensure that we have a peaceful season and beyoung the year 2026’’ he reiterated.

Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, noted that the renewed unity among the security agencies would not end with the festivities but would be sustained to enhance long-term security in the region.

“Unity should be our bedrock I’m sure what we have display today is not going to be a nine day wonder lets continue to united in unity is our strength together we stand divided we fall past report on deffrent security forces attacking each other cut a slear on our image in the eyes of the public and also on our very existence . as we celebrate Christmas Please with the birth of Christ lets forgive each other and turn new live’’ DCOP Osei Akoto pleaded.

The Mayor of Kumasi Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi disclosed security drones have been secured to monitor certain areas within Kumasi.

“ one hundred and Thirty eight police office including CID personnel in plain clothes have been deployed to patrol in Kumasi with special task during the Christmas activities. Armored police Vehicles will also be patrolling all time. All the logistics that they need have been provided by the government to ensure the safety of the Ashanti Kumasi in particular’’ he said.

He furthers disclosed “ Special drones have been secured for security operations during day and night in some specific areas in Kumasi during this Christimas and New Year celebration. On hehalf of the Ashanti Ashanti regional minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Regional security Coordintor Captain retired John Kwame Jabari and other heads of Kumasi, I was to assure you all residents that we are fully prepared to give you the needed security. However, when you see any security threat in your area please don’t hesitate to draw the security agencies attention to it for our all collective interest’’ he plaeaded.

Meanwhile, Kumasi is experiencing heavy traffic congestion as Christmas approaches, leaving many commuters stranded in long queues and, in some cases, forced to walk considerable distances after spending hours in stalled vehicles.
In view of the development KMA has deployed state Ayalolo buses to manage the situation in Kumasi.
